FOR RMR, SAFETY IS OUR #1 PRIORITY FOR EMPLOYEES, COMMUNITY & ENVIRONMENT

Employee Safety:

At RMR, safety is our core value.  RMR’s comprehensive safety process includes ongoing training and procedures to ensure the safety of all teammates, customers, suppliers and you, our neighbors.

Our safety and compliance track records are second to none. We are committed to keeping all 45 of our Newport employees healthy and safe on the job.  RMR is the first and only Kentucky recycling company to receive the prestigious SHARP (OSHA’s Safety & Health Achievement Recognition Program) certification for taking proactive measures to ensure the safety and health of all teammates. SHARP is one of the highest honors OSHA awards to worksites that demonstrate exemplary commitment to workplace safety and health. We have proudly maintained our SHARP certification since 2013.

Our safety efforts have also been recognized through receipt of the Kentucky Labor Cabinet Governor’s Safety and Health Award in both 2013 and 2015.

Community Safety:

Our commitment to safety extends far beyond our property lines. With so many team members that live and work in the Clifton neighborhood and the City of Newport, we want to ensure we do our part.

To promote safety around our facility, we revitalized the front of our property by removing a warehouse, pouring concrete roadways, erecting safety fencing and adding a manicured green space.

Formalized traffic control plans were developed to help community members and others recycle safely.  We coordinated revitalization efforts with Newport Police to ensure improvements exceeded traffic safety standards.

Environmental Stewardship:

The Newport facility is subject to ongoing safety and environmental audits from the EPA, OSHA and other local, state, and federal oversight agencies. RMR Newport passed each inspection and is among the most environmentally advanced in the industry.

In 2018, RMR collaborated with the Army Corp of Engineers to dredge our dock, completing the project in compliance with the permit and environmental standards. This allows us to increase the volume of material leaving our site via barge, as opposed to trucks.

In addition, we have worked with the City of Newport on other community matters, including critical issues like the flood walls that help protect our shared neighborhood.
